International Nurses Day

May 11, 2020 is International Nurses Day, held on the anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth, to acknowledge the dedication of nurses across the world. It’s a day when we celebrate and thank the nurses who sacrifice so much for the health of their communities.

Each year, the World Health Organization chooses a theme to encompass the holiday. This year, WHO has set the theme as, “Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Nursing the World to Health“.

What does that mean with the state of our world today? It “demonstrates how nurses are central to addressing a wide range of health challenges. It will encourage nurses and the public to celebrate the big day, but also provide information and resources that will help to raise the profile of the profession throughout the year and attract a new generation into the nursing family.”

With COVID-19 spreading across the world, RNs everywhere have been working tirelessly to “nurse the world” back to health. They are on the frontlines of the fight against this pandemic and should be honored for their hard work and sacrifice.

From our family at Fidelis Partners to all of the selfless nurses across the globe, thank you. Thank you for sacrificing your evenings and weekends to care for your community. Thank you for risking your own health to stand with the fight against COVID-19. Thank you for your dedication to the constantly evolving field of medicine. And thank you for holding true to your oath, the Nightingale Pledge, so well.
